Metamaterial-Driven Stealth Research

At Infinity Space, our work in stealth metamaterials focuses on the precise manipulation of electromagnetic waves at the sub-wavelength level. Unlike conventional radar-absorbing materials, which rely on bulk dielectric or magnetic losses, metamaterials are artificially engineered structures with tailored effective permittivity and permeability.

By designing periodic unit cells at scales smaller than incident radar wavelengths, we can achieve negative refractive indices, controlled anisotropy, and frequency-selective absorption enabling highly efficient suppression of radar cross-section across targeted frequency bands. By coupling these designs with advanced composites and nano-fabricated thin films, we aim to achieve broadband, lightweight, and conformal stealth skins that integrate seamlessly into aerodynamic structures without compromising lift-to-drag ratios.

Toward Adaptive and Smart Stealth Skins

The future of stealth lies not only in passive absorption but in reconfigurable and adaptive metamaterials. Infinity Space is investigating tunable elements including graphene, liquid crystals, and varactor-loaded resonators that allow real-time adjustment of electromagnetic response. This paves the way for UAV platforms with dynamically adaptive signatures, capable of minimising detectability across shifting radar frequencies and operational conditions. Combined with thermal and acoustic treatments, our metamaterial research represents a critical step toward multi-spectral stealth technologies that redefine the boundaries of aerospace survivability.
